3 is the Magic Number

Yes it is. 3 is the Magic Number.

The song and melody is catchy and many of us have no idea of the song but that is what Google is for. 18 Red played extended volleyball in every match on Sunday en route to a fabulous finish at 18 GEVA Club 3.

The ladies led off the day against Creole 18 - 1 losing in 3 sets. But quickly turned around and in 3 sets defeated ASEVC 18 National Red. Making the final match in pool play a do or die situation for advancing into Championship bracket. The opponent was Evolution 18 and in true style 18 Red wins in 3 sets. The pool play standings were knotted with 3 teams at the top and 18 Red due to points finished 2nd and moved forward into the Championship bracket.

Asphalt Green VBC 18U was the 1st place finisher in the opposite pool and was 18 Red's next opponent. Of course, the ladies did not disappoint as the victory was assured after 3 sets.

Championship bracket final versus Legacy 18s National who also finished 2nd in their pool (Asphalt Green was 1st). 18 Red dug a hole for themselves losing the first set 25-16 but bounced back nicely to win the second set and extend the match to the tie breaker set for the tournament title. 18 Red just could not find a way to win the final and lost 17-15.

In all, the ladies played 15 sets and rode a rollercoaster throughout the day. Coaches and parents alike were pleased with the performance but do not like the added stress. Coach Jamie said it best " ...we are all very proud of how the girls played and how far they've come from the beginning of the season. They also gave us anxiety and probably aged us a few years from all the long rallies."

18 Red will next take the court at GEVA 18 Club Regionals in 2 weeks.
