What I did this summer?

Volleyball with Gold Medalist Misty May Treanor

Some of our young ladies took part in a Beach Volleyball Clinic titled "Dream in Gold" sponsored by Central Jersey Volleyball Academy (CJVA) , East Coast Beach Volleyball Academy (ECVBA) and Great American Volleyball (GAV). The lead clinician was 3 time Beach Gold Medalist Misty May Treanor.

We had 4 ladies who played last season for Phoenix Volleyball NJ attend and they were kind enough to give us their thoughts on playing on the sand and meeting a legend.

14 Red Abby Reicher " This was the first time I have ever played volleyball on sand. I used a lot of different muscles. At first it seemed the sand was slowing me down, but I adapted to it as the day went on and it seemed to get easier."

14 Red Bayley Rose Cooper  I learned so many new drills and was inspired by the way she (Misty May Treanor) encourages throughout the drills. " It taught me to push myself much harder when practicing. I can't wait to put these skills into play when I play in the fall."

14 Red Emma Mathews "The difference between the two is that on the sand it is more difficult for me personally to move quickly and it has different movements than indoor.

And Kate would played in sand tournaments last season continues to progress as a volleyball player.

14 Red Kate Hausmann " I learned that in beach vb you have to have very good communication with your partner and anticipate their move. I also learned some new skills like the tomahawk and a poke."

Each of our young ladies was gracious in their praise for Misty May Treanor

Baylee Rose " She was very nice and encouraging for everyone to continue along the path of playing Volleyball."

Abby "Misty May and her coaches taught us how to move with our partner on the court. The court is smaller and you play with one partner. They walked through the basics of serving, hitting, setting and passing."

Kate "Misty May was really nice and down to earth. It was like working with a coach we have known for a long time. She demonstrated all the different skills and went to each court and worked with everyone"

Emma "It was amazing to meet Misty May! I remember when I was younger and I used to watch her through the television at the Olympics! She is such an inspiration and role model!"

I would like to thank the ladies for sharing their thought with me. The Volleyball learning must continue for a player to improve. These ladies are well on their way.
